May 1st!

I can't believe it's already May 1st.  This kid keeps us busy, so time is flying.  I realize it's been a while since we've posted anything, so I thought I'd do a quick one this morning.

We went down to Auburn on the 20th for A-Day.  There was a football scrimmage, a reunion from Sam's days with the school's TV station, and one last TPing of the trees at Toomer's Corner.  It was a long, busy day, but Andrew did great.  He made some new friends, saw his first football game, and fell asleep less than five minutes after we got in the car to drive home.

We went to the Georgia Renaissance fair last weekend.  Unfortunately the rain rolled in hours earlier than we expected.  We only got to stay for an hour or so before we had to retreat home.

Andrew's First Birthday party

Andrew had his 1-year birthday party on Sunday, April 14, with lots of friends in attendance.  He got to play a lot, eat a big cake, and load up on a bunch of new loot.  Thanks to everyone who came and had fun with us!

Andrew's Cake Photo Shoot

We took Andrew to get some real photos done taking on a smash cake.  The results were simply incredible for a mall photographer.  These are just a few of the highlights.

12-Month Photos!

It's been a year.  A whole year since Andrew was born!  It's getting much harder to keep him still enough to get pictures just on the blue background, so there's some extra spill on these!

Heavy Hearts

A very good friend of ours, our next door neighbor, passed away last night.  He lost his fight with brain cancer.  He was only 37.  He and Andrew always had something special together.  Every time I posted a picture of Andrew on Facebook, Jason would immediately repost it.  He called him his nephew.  They truly loved each other.  

It's hard to gear up for Andrew's first birthday knowing that Jason won't be there.  All of our hearts will be heavy and his presence will be missed.  BUT, Jason would never, in a million years, want to stop a celebration for the little boy he loved so much.  So maybe instead, we'll all take a moment to raise a glass to Auntie Jason.
